www.edmunds.com He was tall, looked fit in his spandex bicycling gear and — the reason we were a bit nervous — he was glaring at the little silver roadster with distaste. Had we inadvertently forced him off the road on one of our passes while photographing the electric-powered 2008 Tesla Roadster? No. His problem, it turns out, is that the car is "too quiet." The Tesla, clean and silent but for the hiss of tires on asphalt and the whine of the electric motor's cooling fan, disturbed him because he didn't hear it coming as we scooted by him on a twisty section of Skyline Boulevard in the mountains above Tesla's headquarters in San Carlos, California.

Joe Biden claimed that the $862 Billion failed stimulus ($400 remains unspent) “created or saved” 750,000 jobs. Economists don’t recognize jobs saved, and the jobs saved may have been keep local agencies afloat. When the money ran out, the people lost their jobs. Currently States are considering filing bankruptcy for spending. watch?v=IqmeT5ykKf0
The Govt owns 61% of GM, GOOGLE, “GM’s electric-car fantasy running out of gas” and read links. The Green Movement should be free market driven
@7eardstapa7 I agree with you, but remember to divide the 220 by 2, which makes it a 110 miles limit… don’t forget you need to get back home
the reviewer must be drunk! I barely drive 50 miles a day… let it charge a bit and I’m back at full battery the next day… 220 miles is plenty for 1 day haha… unless you are taking a trip that takes over 220miles there and back.
Agreed on the stupidity factor. It seems they didnt want to give this car a good review and they waited till the end of the battery life to test acceleration. Sounds like sabatogeeeee.
@mikldude nearly all electric vehicles have their range estimates set only with the use of the electric motor at average speeds. Any extra accessories like sound systems or air conditioning and heating will further limit the range you can drive. And regardless of what everyone says range does indeed matter. The only time I really get use out of a car is on my 200+ mile trips to visit family. everything else is close enough to walk.
@favthings yes but you can instantly fill up the civic at a gas station while the tesla has to sit and charge… and charge.. like all other battery powered devices. Thus it is limited to 220 miles at a time and no more. Don’t like facts? tough luck.
fuck you inside line video this is so bias against the manufacturer 220 miles aint bad my civic SiR only got 400 km to a tank and had way less power than this thing.
i hope tesla becomes the biggest manufacturer in the world
The reporter is a loser. 220 miles? Occasional short trip. Good grief.
just like the lotus…..they should have changed it up more
If viewers/readers are EAGER for additional truth about electric cars watch Jack Rickard’s videos! web.me.com/mjrickard/ & on youtube… “1 A Convenient Response to an Inconvenient Truth – EV”
Why rely on cars when we can ride Pegasus? Please watch my video on how society should ride Pegasus for transportation rather than rely on dangerous gas guzzling cars.
@Caitlynsmile The Roadster starts at $101,500 or $1658/Mo Lease with $9,900 deposit. The new sedan comes out in 2012 starts at $49,000 with a $5,000 refundable reservation deposit. It’s on their website.
WTF?! Since when is >220 miles a short commute?!
OK…I want to know how much this car is
Whatever they say in this video this is the future car type,I’m getting one when they come bit cheaper,I drive average 100 miles per day.
There’s a reason there called Petrolheads…
If you have ever played with any type of electric devices or toys, you know you get the most amount of power immediately after the full charge. What were they thinking? I am actually surprised they were still able to get 6 sec at near empty charge, which is not too shabby at all. Having said that, I wonder how the car would perform as the battery ages…both performance and duration could diminish gradually, but I am speculating.
@msbaugh440 But it is practical for most people. And it has been supressed by the oil industry. But it will get better. I have driven a chev ev1(in 98) and let me tell you its way more fun and alot better to drive than a gas powerd vehicle. Try one out if you can!….merry Xmass
@pitchingwedge1 not per day… but on the way home from school almost 2/3 times a month. This thing wouldn’t even be able to make it… innovative? yes.. practical? not at all
why dont we put 3 tesla motors in a big rig and cover the trailer with solar panels? am i the only one grossed out when a big rig farts black smoke at an intersection? and maybe do the same thing to buses and trains and RV’s. the sun is out for the busiest parts of the day, we should milk it.
@msbaugh440 you lack a basic understanding of any electric motor upcoming technology built around the concepts of self sustainment or long distance travel. you sir, are a moron of the first degree. have fun buying gasoline for the rest of your life and emitting exhaust that is not-so-slowly destroying our planet.
@msbaugh440 Why are you driving more that 200 miles per day?
Ok so while you’re waiting 5 hours to charge you’re car I’ll be 200 miles ahead of you…. the technology to make something like this real life applicable won’t even be around till after we’re all dead… Ill stick to my internal combustion engine thank you very much
wpadkitelewizyjne.ulinks.net Wejdzcie w to Polewki 120% hahaha xD
Check out the test drive on my page – you can ride along in the car.
