A Promising Future with Electric Cars

by Maria Lepdeva on 2011/10/17

Think for a moment about the kinds of pollution that can be caused by using and operating a car that is powered by gasoline, one of the fossil fuel compounds produced from crude oil extracted from deep in the Earth. Of course there are the typical airborne and ground-bound pollutants that we all know and despise such as clouds of smog that engulf our cities, but there is more that we have not yet begin to consider in enough strength to do anything about it.

In larger cities and near highways, it can be rather loud and unpleasant for people who would rather have peace and quiet. Electric cars provide a much more peaceful environment for everyone involved, especially those whose neighbors seem to wake them up every morning at 5am when they start their cars and head out to work.

Currently electric cars are a possibility that is fast becoming a reality, but the technology is not quite where we need it to be in order for working class citizens to take advantage of the opportunities electric cars would offer. It seems like the current status of the technology will only be attractive to early adopters of new tech who really don't have to drive very far (25 to 100 miles in a trip before charging up again).

Many people drive more than that in their daily commute to and from work, and this can be a problem; what if your car runs out of juice on the freeway? You're toast! Luckily leaps and bounds are being made in this technology, and some areas are starting to offer charging stations instead of the traditional gas station. Just an hour or so and you're ready to go again!

At the end of the day we are the ones who are responsible for the future of our environment; it can get better or it can get worse and it all depends on what we do to change the way we currently live. Our global society is unsustainable, and electric cars are one of many possibilities for reducing pollutant emissions into the environment and improve the air, water, and soil quality for ourselves and our children.

There are several chevy dealers in chicago but there is but one chicago chevrolet dealer to see, and that's Bill Kay Chevrolet!
